German language training • The international Bachelor programme in Electrical Engineering (EEB) is a bilingual programme. You can study the first two semesters in English, combined with intensive German language classes. German students may also choose to study the English programme in order to improve their English language skills. From the third semester onwards, all courses are in German. Intensive language training runs parallel to the engineering programme and during semester breaks, giving you the best study support possible. • We lead our international EEB students up to higher German level DSH2 during their Bachelor studies with us. The German language training is an integrated part of the EEB programme and compulsory. Lecturers We teach in small classes with individual support, providing • close collaboration between students, professors and the department • personal atmosphere, it is always possible to contact professors with any questions • dedicated staff available as contact persons in the laboratories • tuition and learning groups formed among our students Audience We are looking for international students with a strong interest in technology, innovation and problem-solving • from all over the world • who are interested in gaining a high-quality education in Germany, known for its engineering excellence and strong industry connections • with good English language skills and interest in learning German as preparation for living, studying and working in Germany Accreditation The programme is accredited as per national standards, by Acquin and Stiftungsrat Akkreditierung. General requirements • A higher education entrance qualification to study at a German university is required, at the level of a German secondary school leaving certificate. Some countries' higher education entrance qualifications aren't equivalent to our German level, so applicants from these countries need to have additional academic experience. This can be a certain number of successful semesters at a recognised university at Bachelor level in a relevant subject (for EEB in engineering). Or alternatively one successful year at a Studienkolleg type T. • We can´t accept predicted grades for admission, we need your final results. • If your school leaving certificate isn´t available within our application period or if a higher academic level than your school leaving certificate is required, you could apply with a SAT or ACT test score and later submit your school leaving certificate. • No conditional admission will be given. • Our admissions committee focuses on Maths and Physics. Language requirements • English language proof: IELTS minimum 6.0 (overall) or TOEFL minimum 80 (IBT) • German language proof: German is not an admission prerequisite as EEB starts in English. However, we recommend German level A2 for a good start in Germany. Funding • The best way to cover your living expenses is to use a blocked account. You will need a blocked account to apply for a visa anyway. • If you need to earn money while studying, make sure that you know the relevant work regulations that match your residency title. Students are limited in terms of hours they can work per week and amount. • We don´t encourage our international EEB students to work more than 10 hours per week. • The EEB programme is very intense, especially in the first year, when we combine our technical lectures with intensive German language courses. • We are unable to offer scholarships for first year international students. • Tuition jobs are available for higher semester students.
